Probably was not done by a patient but surly could have been. I sense despair sadness and feelings of no place to go, no place to get away, no one to help. I can feel the pain of these inmates and that's why the story needs to be said.
This Asylum was state of the art at one time and as most was known as a place of death and abuse long before it was stopped being used. Most of these Hospitals were on large acreage and this one had 30 buildings.
By the 60's funding started to dry up. Recreational programs stopped and staff reduced and replaced with unqualified employees. This became worse as employees took out their frustrations on their patients. Patients began dying from neglect and related causes then buried in a unmarked field near by.
